15-Day Itinerary

Our 15-Day Itenga Wildlife Safari includes 11 Nights of a Standard Mobile Safari with 3 Nights of Hotel/Guest House Accommodation.

DAY 1: WINDHOEK

Windhoek, with its lingering heritage of German architecture, activities and atmosphere is a city that can be visited throughout the year. The first day will be spent at leisure. At around 18:00, we’ll be met by our guide at the hotel reception for a briefing.

*Overnight Accommodation at the Safari Hotel or a similar establishment. (Dinner: own arrangements)

DAY 2/3: NAMIB DESERT – SOSSUSVLEI

Our journey continues south to the heart of the Namib Desert where we make an early morning departure to Sossusvlei. Situated in the oldest desert in the world, we’ll stop in the dune belt to enjoy the changing colours of the world’s highest sand dunes. The morning will be a sight and stroll amongst the dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Once we return to camp, we’ll enjoy a short hike through the Sesriem Canyon (Shuttle into the dunes available on clients’ account).

DAY 4: SWAKOPMUND

Swakopmund, with its German colonial atmosphere, is the principal coastal resort of Namibia. Time can be spent at your leisure to enjoy the charm of this old town or to engage in one of the many optional activities (scenic flights, hot air ballooning and the like at your own expense).

*Overnight Accommodation in a Guest House. (Breakfast only)

DAY 5: TWYFELFONTEIN

En route to our next campsite, we’ll visit a Himba village to gain a glimpse into their way of life. We’ll also enjoy a visit to a Damara Living Museum. After that, we’ll visit the Twyfelfontein area; a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 2000 rock carvings and walk to view the ancient Bushman rock engravings.

DAY 6/7/8: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

Our voyage continues through the truly unique landscape of the park which is one of the most important reserves and game sanctuaries the world. Etosha is the last remaining natural wild sanctuary of the Black Rhino. We’ll enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives, visiting the famous Etosha Pan and numerous waterholes.

DAY 9: SAN VILLAGE

The earliest known inhabitants of Namibia are the San. The San people at the living Museum of the Ju/’Hoansi San at Grashoek are the only “Bushmen” still allowed to hunt traditionally. We visit these beautiful people and learn from their ample knowledge.

*Overnight: Standard mobile safari – Bush Camp. (All meals)

DAY 10/11: KAVANGO RIVER

Next, we’ll travel north towards the border of Angola; entering the Kavango region which is the home of the well-known woodcarvers. The banks of the Kavango River will be the base of our campsite, where the grunts and roars of hippos may be heard close by. The next morning starts with a visit to the Mahango Game Reserve, with the exciting possibility of spotting Crocodiles, Elephants, Hippos and rare Antelope like the Sable, Roan, and Sitatunga. In the afternoon, we’ll treat ourselves to a mokoro excursion in this scenic area.

DAY 12/13: CHOBE

Upon entry into Botswana we visit Chobe; famed for its magnificent sunsets and spectacular landscapes. Our second day will welcome a morning game drive in the national park on an enjoyable search for large herds of Elephants. That afternoon, we’ll embark on a sunset cruise to watch the wildlife from the comfort of our boat.

DAY 14: VICTORIA FALLS

Victoria Falls is without a doubt one of the most brilliant sights in the world. Here, we’ll have some free time to enjoy a variety of activities along with visiting the falls.

*Overnight: Cresta Hotel or similar accommodation. (Breakfast only)

DAY 15: VICTORIA FALLS

The safari ends after breakfast (+-10:00).

TENTS & EQUIPMENT:

A 2-Person spacious, comfortable Dome tent (L2.5m x W2.5m x H1.85m) with a built-in groundsheet and 2 large aerating windows with mosquito netting
A Safari folding chair
2 Comfortable camp beds with foam mattresses and a pillow
A large marquee tent (5m x 5m) is used for shade in summer

FOOD & DRINKS

3 Delicious and wholesome meals each day when camping, with dinner served ‘Al fresco’ under the stars – Namibian bush cuisine at its very best!
Tea and coffee available in camp
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are not included and may be purchased at the start of the safari and en route
Excludes lunches and dinners in Windhoek, Swakopmund and Victoria Falls

VEHICLE:
